Narrative As Books Pink Slips
“Aldrich’s book delivers a solidly structured and detail-filled plot that starts with a skillful, early buildup of suspense. Like an Agatha Christie novel, the novel makes efficient use of misdirection while adding several suspicious suspects to the mix. The Characters are vividly drawn and believable. The story features an appealing and creative narrative voice.”~BlueInk Review
“Beth Aldrich’s Pink Slips is a psychological thriller that sustains a sense of mystery throughout, told from the point of view of pregnant suburban chef Betsy Ryan. The first-person perspective helps build suspense and heightens the action through the story’s many twists and turns.” ~4-Star Foreword Clarion Reviews
“Atmospheric and chilling with a feisty and relatable Every-Mom heroine, Pink Slips will keep you in suspense until the gripping climax.”
~Eve Adamson, nine-time New York Times bestselling collaborator
“Not since Rosemary’s Baby has a book revealed how vulnerable women are when pregnant… Aldrich has Raymond Chandler’s (The Lady in the Lake), gift for portraying violent scenes, but has a woman’s insight into the especially serious consequences it could have for pregnant women.”
~5-Star, Indie Reader Review
Betsy Ryan is pregnant with her third child, and receiving threatening notes from an anonymous person. During what should be a joyful time in her life, she’s forced to face a decade old memory, and relive one of the most devastating nights of her life
To uncover the mystery behind the threats, she enlists the help of an unlikely, but oddly reliable source, her dog Barney. As the menacing notes continue to arrive, her husband is still out of town for work, and she struggles to keep her composure while shielding her two young sons from danger. She trusts no one except her parents, best friend Misty, and her extraordinary dog—who has proven to literally understand everything she says. Is this person out to harm her? And how do they have so much personal information about Betsy? She can’t help but think it’s the same person who attacked her at the train station almost a decade ago, and changed the course of her life forever. To save herself and her unborn child—Betsy must face her fears and find her strength, to reveal who is after her and most importantly…why.

I downloaded this book as I thought it could be some 'mind candy' for me. Unfortunately it turned out to be the black licorice kind of candy. It was a bit disappointing as it tried to do too many things at once. The characters were stereotypical and the "psychic" element was just plain weird. There were also a high number of errors throughout the book; both continuity errors- at one point a character in the space of a page switched from drinking coffee to tea, as well as errors that should haveThis was so ridiculous. It had a promising premise but thats about it. The characters, especially the main character, were so flat and inconsistent I couldnt take any of them seriously. The writing I couldnt get behind either, it jumped all over the place constantly. The main character is easily the worst part about the entire thing. Her thought process made no sense to me, she was NOT a strong character (despite what she tells herself in the last few pages). She spends all her time making calls
MAN, what a nail biting read!!!! I literally could not put this book down!!!!! From page one Beth had me hooked as she throws you into a whirl wind of a mystery. I have no stayed up all night straight, just to finish this novel. It is full of twists and turns and when I thought I had something figured out, I was thrown another curve ball. All the supporting cast was fun to read as they each contributed to the story and each had their own personality. Nobody out shined the other or took away from

I hated the main character from the start. Main character is preggers and decide its a good idea to surprise her husband with a new puppy plus the news of an impending baby? Made worse by the fact that it sounded like he was already being resistant to starting a family. Then she values the money she had over her safety and that of her baby. I can get that maybe her brain stopped working and she didn't have time to think about the life inside her at that point, however her not prioritizing her
Warm, Charming, Heartwarming, Gripping, Page Turner! A Fantastic Read!
Betsy Ryan is pregnant with her third child and her life with her husband, sons and beloved dog Barney seems wonderful. Then she starts to receive pink notes and suddenly, her life is turned upside down. These notes, or pink slips, are threatening and they also show that the sender is extremely knowledgeable about Betsy, her family, and her past. As I watched her work to protect her family and discover the identity of her stalker I was caught up in her fear, her determination and her bravery.
A wonderful and Mesmerizing StoryI loved this book! It kept me guessing to the end and was so exciting in between! The characters came to life in the book and Betsy's ability to focus on the thoughts of those close to her was very believable! It was fun to read about her developing pregnancy and her relationship with her unborn baby. This book also was suspenseful as Betsy continued trying to find out who was sending her threatening notes! Her relationships with others gave her the support she
