Ever since Soren was kidnapped and taken to the St. Aegolius School for Orphaned Owls, he has longed to see his sister, Eglantine, again. Now Eglantine is back in Soren's life, but she's been through an ordeal too terrible for words. And Ezylryb, Soren's mentor, has disappeared. Deep within Soren's gizzard, something more powerful than knowledge tells him there's a connection between these mysterious events.

In order to rescue Ezylryb, Soren must embark upon a perilous quest. It will bring him face-to-face with a force more dangerous than anything the rulers of St. Aggie's could have devised-and a truth that threatens to destroy the owl kingdom.

Comment On About Books The Rescue (Guardians of Ga'Hoole #3)
Ack, I totally forgot to update that I finished this one, haha. After learning that the movie was based off of the first three books, I was shocked. It was totally different -- in fact, it's practically like they just took the setting and the characters and wrote a new story! That lends itself to my disappointment at the climax. No spoilers, but, the final battle was nearly as intense as I thought it would be. However, there were some great reveals and plot twists.Sadly, at this point, the

With every book I read, I become a bigger fan of Kathryn Lasky and/or Ga'Hoole. Even though the movie is so different, it was my first introduction to Ga'Hoole and the Legends of the Great Tree and the Guardians who reside there. The books had been on my to-read list for a long time, but because they were older, had constantly been pushed down the reading list. But now I am completely hooked and look forward to each new adventure as I finish the previous book.In this third installment we return

Such a twist! I remember reading this book when I was around twelve and being blown away by the author's stunning descriptions and colloquialisms of owl life. Even a young reader can appreciate the amount of research that was done for these lovely middle grade books.

Listened to this on CD and I was having a hard time keeping my attention on it...right up until a surprise near the end. I am uncertain whether I will continue the series.

More exciting than the 2nd book. I like Soren's friends becoming their own chaw. Everyone develops their own strengths and talents and contribute to the group. Likes:* Barn owl Soren's point of view * First chapter is a summary of the story so far* Cast of Characters listed at the end of the book, a great reference* Owl information ~ digestion, nesting habits, etc.* Feel it in my gizzard* Mrs. P the blind nest maid snake was a decent parental authority (imo usually the adults in children's books

I really like this book series, it clearly shows that the author put a lot of emotion into this series. Soren's ryb or teacher named Ezylryb went missing and Soren wants to find him. He flies out with his chaw or group in search for clues about Ezylryb's whereabouts. The chaw gets some information and flies to a castle. In the castle, the chaw learns about something called flecks, and that they can be used to mess around with any creatures brain. They get burning coals from a nearby forest fire
